by It’s hard to believe, but Lamborghini was made not only in Italy but also in Mexico. And it’s not even about screwdriver assembly, but about a separate model, and a rather whimsical one at that. 
This incredible supercar, Lamborghini Coatl, began development in 1995 by the division Automoviles Lamborghini Latinoamérica SA. Strangely enough, the head company in Sant’Agata Bolognese gave the green light for the creation of the car in a country with far from the coolest automotive industry. 
The Coatl was based on the Lamborghini Diablo, which is especially noticeable by the characteristic wedge-shaped silhouette of the coupe.
However, Mexican designers radically changed the appearance of the car. The Lamborghini Coatl has no pop-up headlights but features huge air intakes and a large rear wing. 
The body was made of carbon and a special polymer material called Epoxica, and it was coated with 14 layers of paint. As for the interior, it was made according to the customer’s wishes. New seats and a handmade steering wheel were specifically designed for the Coatl.
The V12 was bored out to 6.3 liters and its power was increased to 635 hp. The Lamborghini Coatl accelerated to a hundred in 3.54 seconds and reached a top speed of 385 km/h. If that wasn’t enough, Mexicans offered a turbocharging option for an additional fee. By the way, unlike the Diablo, this supercar could be equipped not only with a manual transmission but also with a sequential gearbox. 
The first Lamborghini Coatl was ready by the year 2000.
The company was prepared to start small-scale production of the coupe, but something went wrong. It is rumored that another three cars were built, as well as a strange Alar concept.
