The Dutch police prefer to catch drivers who exceed the speed limit in quite unusual but effective ways. For this, they hide speed control cameras out of sight of motorists: previously, the corresponding equipment was installed in trash bins and on billboards, and now their ingenuity has gone even further – recently Dutch police have started using a mobile toilet, which houses the equipment for automatic recording of violations!
In particular, the police use an inconspicuous VW Caddy van, to which a trailer with a portable toilet is attached. But in reality, the toilet is not real – it hides a speed control camera that is almost impossible to spot. The disguise is enhanced by the attire of the officers themselves: instead of uniforms, they wear regular clothes with orange vests, like those of road workers.
Dutch media report that the pseudo-toilet was first spotted on the roads a year ago, and just recently it was seen on a highway near the city of Maarssen. Moreover, this unusual innovation has already proven its effectiveness: previously, the toilet-camera was also noticed in the city of Almere, where it helped catch as many as 59 speed enthusiasts.
