The first Vietnamese car manufacturer is actively expanding its lineup. A charged crossover Vinfast Lux V8 was brought to Geneva.
Like all Vinfast cars, the newcomer is built on the BMW platform. As you may have guessed, the donor was the previous generation BMW X5 crossover. Indeed, it is noticeable to the naked eye.
The Vietnamese car differs from the X5 with its front design and optics, and the interior features a digital dashboard and a large touchscreen in the Tesla style. Even carbon fiber is used in the interior trim.
Strangely enough, a 6.2-liter V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette is hidden under the hood instead of a BMW engine. It develops 455 hp and 624 Nm, with a top speed of 300 km/h. Overall, it turns out to be a budget competitor to the Lamborghini Urus.
The new Vinfast Lux V8 is planned to be produced in small series. Production will start in 2020.
