by The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) uncovered a scheme for the illegal import of expensive cars into Ukraine without paying customs duties. The imported cars were sold with fake documents. 
The scheme was organized with the “assistance” of Lviv customs employees. Elite cars entered Ukraine under the temporary import regime or as diplomatic mission vehicles. 
Then fraudsters changed the numbers on the cars and forged documents.
After this, expensive cars were sold. It has been established that the budget lost 658 thousand hryvnias from just one Mercedes S-Class coupe. Currently, the exact number of imported cars is being clarified. 
At the moment, the SBI is conducting pre-trial investigations under Article 346 of the Criminal Code (Abuse of power or official position). Searches have already been conducted in the premises of the Lviv customs and at the residences of the suspects.
