Trying to sell a batch of new Challenger Demon 170s

  • Five Dodge Demon 170S cars are being offered at significantly higher prices than their recommended retail prices.
  • Four flagship Challengers have Arizona state titles, and one has an Ohio state title.
  • The seller is asking $185,000 for one car, although its recommended retail price is $134,631.

People were willing to invest staggering amounts of money a few years ago to get the keys to the then-new Challenger SRT Demon 170. Since it’s one of the fastest cars on the planet and limited to 3,300 units, it’s no surprise that there was once a frenzy of demand for it. However, recent auction results have shown that interest in the Demon 170 is waning. This hasn’t stopped one man from trying to sell five Demon 170s, each priced significantly higher than the original retail price.

All five cars reportedly have only delivery mileage, with four out of the five photographed together, parked in the seller’s garage. These four have Arizona state titles in the seller’s name, while the second purple “170” he is looking to offload has a title in the seller’s owner’s name and carries an Ohio state title.

Strangely, the green Demon is currently in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, the red, gray, and one of the purple ones are in Tucson, Arizona, while the second purple one is now in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Since the cars were specially equipped, they have different prices. Sublime (green) had a recommended retail price of $146,926 and is available for $180,000. One of the Plum Crazy (purple) cars had a recommended price of $134,631 and was listed for $185,000, while another Plum Crazy Demon 170 is being sold for $165,000 with a recommended price of $131,431.

The seller also hopes to sell the Granite (gray) model for $160,000 with a recommended price of $122,141, while the TorRed example is offered for $160,000. It had a recommended price of $120,951.

Interestingly, the seller has only listed these cars for sale, likely hoping to avoid any commissions he would have paid if selling them on an online auction site. An interested buyer with over half a million dollars on hand could even choose to purchase all five as part of a special deal.
