This long-roofed wagon offers what modern AMGs no longer provide

Rare Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG from Japan up for auction again

Wagons from the 90s rarely attract attention, but this one is an exception. A 1999 Japanese Mercedes-Benz C43 AMG is up for auction in the U.S. with no minimum bid. The car spent its first 15 years in Japan and has been in Canada since 2014. A previous sale attempt failed, and now the owner is trying to find it a new home.

Technical features

This wagon was the top-tier version of the C-Class (W202) of its time. Unlike modern models with hybrid engines, it features a naturally aspirated 4.3-liter V8, producing 306 hp at 5,850 rpm and 302 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration to 60 mph (96 km/h) takes 5.9 seconds—a figure that still holds up well today.

“This is a rare example of an old AMG—simple yet charismatic, with rear-wheel drive and the practicality of a wagon.”

The car is painted in Brilliant Silver Metallic, features original 17-inch AMG wheels, a leather interior with wood trim, cruise control, and a Bose audio system. The mileage is approximately 141,000 km (87,000 miles), which is quite decent for a vehicle of its age.

Given the absence of a minimum bid, someone could acquire this unique car at a fair market price. For classic car enthusiasts, this is a great opportunity to own a rare model that combines power, style, and practicality.

This Mercedes C43 AMG isn’t just a car—it’s a piece of history. Its design, engine sound, and driving experience hark back to an era when AMG made cars simply and emotionally. Unlike today’s technologically overloaded models, it offers a pure driving experience without unnecessary complications.
