Who needs a Lamborghini if a Honda can cost over a million dollars?

Rare Honda NSX-R sold for a record amount

The Honda NSX is one of the most iconic Japanese sports models, but last weekend, a special unit was sold for an amount that might surprise even the most devoted fans. The price reached approximately $1.064 million, which is about ten times the cost of a regular NSX.

What makes this model so special? First, it is one of the rarest versions—Honda released fewer than 140 updated NSX-R units, and they were sold exclusively in Japan. Carbon fiber was used to reduce weight, and the audio system, power steering, and air conditioning were removed. Additionally, lightweight Recaro seats made of carbon and Kevlar were installed, reducing the weight by 100 kg compared to the standard model.

Despite Honda’s claim that the engine produced the same 290 hp as the standard version, it is believed that the V6 was actually more powerful.

Auction Details

This NSX-R was sold at the Broad Arrow auction in Italy. The car had fewer than 16,000 km on the odometer, and its timing belt was replaced in 2023. Externally, the model features Honda’s signature red color and BBS alloy wheels. The interior includes carbon-Kevlar seats with red Alcantara upholstery.

According to the auction house, buyers from the USA, Australia, the UK, South Africa, and Argentina competed for this rare NSX-R, which drove the price up significantly. This deal once again confirms how collector cars can become investment objects, especially when it comes to limited editions from renowned manufacturers.
