Radar caught a violator who exceeded the speed limit twice for the second time, but he doesn’t care

Duck violator: Switzerland records repeated speeding

In Switzerland, where speeding fines are even calculated based on the driver’s income, a radar captured an unusual violator—a duck. The bird flew past the camera at a speed of 52 km/h in a zone with a limit of 30 km/h. This is already the second case in recent years where a duck has “violated” the rules at this location.

Interestingly, exactly seven years ago—on April 13, 2018—another duck (or perhaps the same one) also flew past this radar at the same speed. The police confirmed that the system is working correctly, meaning this is not a joke. According to experts, the duck belongs to the mallard species, which live 5-10 years in the wild. Therefore, it is entirely possible that this is the descendant of the original “violator,” inheriting a penchant for speeding.

The police quickly dismissed suspicions that this could be an April Fools’ joke, stating that the radar system is thoroughly checked annually to ensure accuracy. No tricks—just a fast-flying duck.

Local residents joke that the ducks must have their own “races” here, or perhaps it’s a family tradition. Either way, the story brought a smile even to the stern Swiss police officers, who admitted they don’t yet know how to punish birds for such “violations.”
