Toyota C-HR Returns to the US, But Now It’s a Completely Different Model

Toyota Brings Back the C-HR to the US as a Powerful Electric Vehicle

Toyota C-HR 2026

After a three-year absence, the Toyota C-HR returns to the American market in a radically updated form. Previously, it was a small crossover with an internal combustion engine, but now it’s a fast electric vehicle that outperforms even Toyota’s sporty GR86 in acceleration dynamics.

The announcement of the American version of the C-HR was no surprise—a similar model called the C-HR+ had already been introduced for the European market. As experts note,

“The C-HR uses the same e-TNGA 2.0 platform as the updated bZ4X, but with a 4-inch shorter wheelbase and a sportier fastback-style body”

Technical Features

Unlike the European market, where front-wheel-drive versions are available, American buyers will only be offered an all-wheel-drive modification with two electric motors. The 77 kWh battery provides a range of approximately 290 miles. Standard equipment includes a 14-inch touchscreen, heated seats, and wireless charging devices.

The manufacturer plans to start sales of the new C-HR only in 2026. Exact prices will be announced closer to the launch. Interestingly, despite its sporty character, the model retains practicality—options such as lane-change assist and a panoramic camera are available in the XSE trim.

The return of the C-HR in an electric version signals a shift in Toyota’s strategy for the American market. The company is betting on more dynamic and technologically advanced models that can compete not only on reliability but also on high technical performance. It’s particularly impressive that the electric crossover already outperforms some of the brand’s sporty models.
