Record-Speeding Violation on the Autobahn
On the German A2 autobahn near Magdeburg, a driver of a Porsche Panamera was caught at a speed of 321 km/h in a section with a limit of 120 km/h. This is an excess of a whole 201 km/h, making it one of the most serious violations in recent years.
For such a violation, the driver faces a fine of 900 euros, two penalty points on their driver’s license, and a three-month ban from operating a vehicle. The police emphasized that speed limits are established for the safety of all road users.
“Speed limits are created to protect everyone and help you stay safe on the road,” stated government representatives.
Vehicle’s Technical Capabilities
Although the exact modification of the Porsche Panamera is not specified, the most powerful version, the Turbo S E-Hybrid, is capable of producing 771 hp and a top speed of 325 km/h. This explains how the driver could achieve such performance.
Interestingly, in 2021, a similar case was recorded on this same route, but the investigation was then dropped due to insufficient grounds for charges of illegal racing.
Such incidents become a reason for discussions about the need to strengthen control on sections of autobahns with speed limits. Despite Germany’s reputation as a country with unrestricted speed zones, the majority of autobahn sections have permanent or temporary limits, which are often ignored by drivers of powerful cars.
