This all-wheel drive electric SUV develops 456 horsepower and costs less than a Honda Civic

New Onvo L90 Electric SUV: Power and Affordability

The Chinese manufacturer Onvo has introduced the full-size L90 electric SUV, targeting the family car market. The model is available in six- and seven-seat configurations, and buyers can lower the starting price by subscribing to the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) lease program.

All versions are equipped with an 85 kWh battery and a 900-volt architecture. The base price of the Pro version starts at $37,200, but with battery leasing, it drops to $25,000. The top-tier Ultra trim starts at $41,700, but with BaaS — $29,700.

Technical Specifications and Comfort

The Pro and Max versions feature a single electric motor with 456 hp, while the Ultra adds another motor for a combined total of 590 hp. Rear-wheel drive allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while all-wheel-drive models do it in 4.7 seconds.

The interior is equipped with a 17.2-inch multimedia screen, a 17.3-inch display for second-row passengers, and a 35-inch head-up display. A 23-speaker audio system and a built-in refrigerator are also standard.

It is currently unknown if the Onvo L90 will be sold outside of China, but its pricing policy makes it a serious competitor to models like the Kia EV9. It is worth noting that even with the monthly battery lease, the L90 ends up being cheaper than a base Honda Civic in the USA.
