Stolen Fire Truck Causes Chaos in Washington Neighborhood

Theft of a Fire Truck in Washington

In the city of Everett, Washington, police are searching for a perpetrator who stole a fire truck on Friday night. During the escape, the driver collided with parked cars, damaging at least 14 vehicles. The fire truck itself also sustained serious damage and was taken out of service.

The incident occurred after firefighters responded to a call at a residential building. While they were providing assistance, someone entered the cab and fled in the vehicle at high speed. The consequences were catastrophic: collisions with cars and damage to the landscape in five different locations.

Official Response

Police received several calls about accidents involving a fire truck. In particular, two collisions were initially reported, and a minute later, ten more were reported. After the truck was apprehended, it was sent to an impound lot as evidence, and firefighters switched to a reserve vehicle.

“The loss of a fire truck due to an individual’s irresponsibility jeopardizes the safety of not only the rescuers but the entire city,” stated Everett Police Chief John DeRousse.

“We are analyzing the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Fortunately, no one was injured,” added Fire Chief Dave DeMarco.

The suspect has not yet been found. Numerous traces of destruction remain at the scene, including cars with torn-off doors. Police are asking the public for help in searching for the criminal.

This case raises questions about the security and protection of specialized vehicles. Although no one was injured, the incident showed how important it is to ensure control over key equipment, especially when it is left unattended during emergency calls.
