Porsche Prepares an Electric Cayenne with Power Exceeding the Turbo E-Hybrid
Creating an attractive SUV is not an easy task, but Porsche managed to do it with the first generation Macan. It combined sportiness, premium quality, and elegance. However, the electric version of the Macan took a different path, abandoning the restrained design in favor of a more radical style. Now it seems the Cayenne is in for a similar transformation.
The development of the electric Cayenne is underway, and its official unveiling is expected by the end of the year. Like the Macan EV, the new model will be sold alongside the gasoline version, but their exteriors will differ significantly. Spy photos show that the electric Cayenne will inherit traits from its younger brother.
New Design and Technologies
The front end will get triangular air intakes and a large radiator grille with adjustable vertical slats. The rear, inspired by the Macan EV, could be controversial: narrow LED taillights, a full-width light bar, and a minimalist bumper design.
The interior promises to be high-tech—with four screens. Key gauges will be located on a curved display, the center console will get touch panels, and an additional lower screen will handle climate control. Physical buttons will be minimal.
Power and Specifications
Despite potential design controversies, the electric Cayenne will compensate with performance. The use of an updated 800-volt PPE platform will allow it to surpass the figures of the hybrid version (730 hp). The model will also be able to tow significant loads—up to 3,500 kg.
Porsche is expected to unveil the electric Cayenne this year, with sales starting shortly after the premiere. This model will be an important step in the electrification of the brand’s lineup, combining traditional power with modern technology. The only question is whether the brand’s fans will like the new design, which departs from Porsche’s classic styling.
