Jaguar and Range Rover plans for electric vehicle release unexpectedly postponed, sources report

Jaguar Land Rover delays launch of electric models

Jaguar Land Rover is postponing the launch of several electric models to 2026. According to reports, the delay affects at least four different electric vehicles from both brands. A company representative stated that the new products will enter the market at the most opportune moment for customers and markets.

Despite high demand for premium electric cars, manufacturers sometimes have to adjust their plans. For example, over 60 thousand people are already waiting for the first fully electric Range Rover SUV. Jaguar, in turn, is also preparing for a complete transition to electric power.

Reasons for the delays

The delays are related to a number of internal and external factors. Recently, Jaguar Land Rover cut up to 500 managerial positions in the UK. The company is also suffering from high customs tariffs and declining sales due to global market changes.

“By 2030, JLR will offer electric versions of all its premium brands. Our plans are flexible to adapt to the needs of the market and customers. We will launch new models at the optimal moment,” a company representative noted.

Initially, the electric Range Rover was planned to be presented at the end of 2024, and new Jaguar models were supposed to appear by mid-2026. However, the company has now decided to conduct additional tests and wait for demand to increase.

The wait for the “perfect moment” could be prolonged, as the dynamics of the electric vehicle market remain unstable. Political factors, particularly in the USA, also influence automakers’ strategies. Jaguar Land Rover appears to be preparing for a long period of adaptation.
