Alfa Romeo considers various options for future Quadrifoglio
Alfa Romeo enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the updated versions of the Giulia and Stelvio with the legendary Quadrifoglio badge. While it was previously expected that these models would become fully electric, information has now emerged about the possibility of retaining traditional engines.
Alfa Romeo CEO Santo Ficili stated in a comment to the press:
“Quadrifoglio could be electric, why not? But it could also use a conventional engine”
Uncertainty about future technologies
The brand’s previous head, Jean-Philippe Imparato, spoke about the potential power of an electric Stelvio Quadrifoglio reaching up to 986 hp, which would put the model on par with supercars. However, the final decision on powertrains has not yet been made.
The updated Stelvio and Giulia will be built on the STLA Medium platform, which allows for the use of various types of engines. Both models have undergone additional refinements to ensure operation with traditional engines.
The brand will remain niche
Ficili emphasized that Alfa Romeo does not plan to transform into a mass producer like BMW. He stressed the importance of preserving the brand’s identity:
“When you look at a car, you should immediately understand that it’s an Alfa. And the driver must feel in complete control”
While there is potential for the return of iconic models like the 8C or 4C, the current priority is ensuring the brand’s financial stability. Ficili also mentioned the possibility of collaboration with Maserati to create exclusive models.
Despite challenging market conditions, Alfa Romeo’s management continues to seek a balance between innovation and preserving the brand’s unique character. The coming years will show whether the Italians manage to find this golden mean between environmental requirements and the expectations of the brand’s fans. Particular attention is being paid to the young audience, which could become the new generation of Alfa Romeo enthusiasts.
