Ford’s 105th Recall Hits Hundreds Of Thousands Of Popular Pickups

After setting an embarrassing record, Ford’s recall machine is back in action and impacting the best-selling trucks in America. In this case, it’s the 2025 F-150 as well as the 2025 and 2026 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550.

The latest campaign involves 355,656 pickups, which have an instrument cluster that can fail at startup. If this occurs, critical information such as vehicle speed and warning lights won’t be displayed.

The safety recall report was vague on specifics, but noted the digital instrument clusters were made by Visteon and a problem can prevent them from working properly. The government didn’t exactly spell things out, but said “During the sleep entry sequence of the IPC [Instrument Panel Cluster], a CAN wakeup interrupt can occur within a narrow timeframe, resulting in a memory protection fault.”

That’s about as clear as mud, but Ford became aware of the issue in early May. This sparked an investigation, which found that approximately 65% of vehicles had “ignition cycle events that are in the window of susceptibility to this concern.” Furthermore, it appears the problem is more likely to occur as the vehicle ages.

Ford was aware of at least 96 reports, including 95 warranty claims, as of late June. The first was reported on January 30, 2025.

The automaker isn’t aware of any injuries or accidents related to the issue, and the problem will be addressed via an over-the-air update. The update will disable the memory protection feature, which should prevent the problem from occurring.
