Hybrid Models Drive Hyundai’s Record Sales

Americans actively purchased cars last month, allowing Hyundai to achieve its best sales performance in history for April. The company recorded a 19% growth compared to 2024, selling 81,503 vehicles. This is the seventh consecutive month that Hyundai has set new sales records.

The sales leader was the Tucson, the number of which sold increased by 41% to 22,054 units. In second place was the Elantra with 13,125 sales and a 30% growth. Closing the top three is the Santa Fe, whose sales increased by 28% to 12,417 crossovers.

Hyundai reported that customers are increasingly interested in eco-friendly models: hybrid sales grew by 46%, and electric vehicles by 25%. However, pure electric cars continue to lose popularity: Ioniq 5 sales were down 8%, and Ioniq 6 by 12%.

The situation may improve with the arrival of the new Ioniq 9, which will arrive at dealers this spring. Hyundai also recently introduced updated models in Korea.

Most Hyundai models show positive sales dynamics, but the Santa Cruz continues to lose ground – its sales fell by 16% in April to 2,494 vehicles. This model faces stiff competition from the updated Ford Maverick, which offers a more attractive price and a more economical hybrid powertrain.
