Hot Hatchback from Stellantis: Unavailable for Purchase, But Available for Virtual Races

Key Features of the Concept

Update: Live photos from the Munich Motor Show have been added, giving the Corsa GSE Vision GT concept even more expressiveness compared to Opel’s computer renders.

Concept Presentation

Opel has just presented an interesting concept, announced last week; however, it is not a production model for sale. Instead, the unique Opel Corsa GSE is a new creation from the Vision GT series, which will be added to the Gran Turismo 7 game later this year.

Like other Vision GT cars, the Corsa GSE far surpasses what Opel actually offers to buyers – both in design and performance.

Technical Features

The concept is equipped with two electric motors – one on each axle, which together produce 789 hp (588 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. An overboost function with a power of 79 hp (59 kW) is also provided, which can be used for four seconds, after which it takes 80 seconds to recover.

This incredible hatchback accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (0–100 km/h) in just 2 seconds and has a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h). The motors are powered by an 82 kWh battery pack. Thanks to its lightweight construction, the car weighs only 1170 kg.

Design and Exterior

The Opel Corsa GSE Vision Grand Turismo has unique details that make it lower and wider compared to the current Corsa, despite similar dimensions. Key design elements include widened arches, an updated Vizor grille, as well as a combination of a large rear spoiler and a pronounced diffuser.

Interior and Safety

The concept’s interior is also radical: the lightweight driver’s seat is equipped with six-point safety harnesses and sensors that warn of other vehicles on the road. If a car enters the blind spot, a warning appears via special illuminated materials on the dashboard and door inserts.

Future Models and Prospects

Although this concept will remain just a prototype, Opel notes that it serves as a “preview of future GSE models.” This could include a sporty version of the next Corsa, following the example of the fully electric Peugeot E-208 GTI. The brand recently revived its sports line with the Opel Mokka GSE, which produces 278 hp (207 kW) and 345 Nm of torque, accelerating to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

Expectations for the New Corsa

The current, sixth generation of the Opel Corsa, is the “brother” of the Peugeot 208. The next generation is expected in 2026 and will be built on the STLA Small platform. Like its predecessor, the compact hatchback is likely to offer a choice between petrol, micro-hybrid, and fully electric powertrains.

In terms of design, the production model will borrow some features from the wild Corsa GSE concept, such as the narrower Opel Vizor grille at the front. However, it will have a more conventional five-door body, which is the new norm in the segment, without the excessive aerodynamics inherent in track concepts.

Stellantis

This concept demonstrates how far technology and design can advance in a virtual environment, while hinting at real innovations that may appear in future production models. Opel continues to experiment with electromobility and performance, which could significantly impact the market for affordable sports cars.
