Pope Blesses BMW: Charity Auction with Participation of Leo XIV

BMW Motorrad Presents a Modified Motorcycle to the Pope

BMW Motorrad has introduced a specially modified R 18 Transcontinental motorcycle to Pope Leo XIV. This unique specimen was personally signed by the pontiff and will be sold at an auction, with the proceeds going to support children in Madagascar.

Design Features and Blessing

The motorcycle was handed over by BMW Motorrad Deutschland and further customized by Motorrad Witzel GmbH. Among its features are a white color with a pearlescent effect, chrome-plated details, and the Vatican coat of arms. The engine also bears the name of Pope Leo XIV and the word “peace” in different languages. Additionally, the model is equipped with a white heated leather seat.

Journey of Peace and Auction

This unique motorcycle undertook a special “Journey of Peace,” which started in Germany and ended in Rome. After being presented to the Pope, the motorcycle will be displayed at the BMW Welt museum in Munich and then sold at a Sotheby’s auction in October.

Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad, noted: “What initially sounded like a crazy idea turned into a wonderful charity campaign. I am glad that we can support children’s aid projects in Madagascar thanks to our R 18 Transcontinental.” He also thanked Pope Leo XIV for his time and support.

This initiative demonstrates how automakers can use their products not only for commercial purposes but also for socially significant projects. Supporting children in Madagascar through such an unusual auction can attract the attention of millions of people worldwide and promote the development of charity among large corporations.
