Lexus LFR spotted in different variants: base, powerful, and sporty

Testing at the Nürburgring

The Lexus LFR is nearing series production, and its Sport concept was recently presented at Monterey Car Week. Now we have a better look at the production model, as three different variants were undergoing testing at the Nürburgring track.

The LFR prototypes, which have been compared to the Mercedes-AMG GT-R and GT Black Series, initially look quite similar. However, one of them is a base version intended for public roads.

Track version and intermediate variant

A track-oriented version with a carbon front spoiler, canards, and a large rear wing is also visible. Unique ventilation holes above the front wheels seem to be added to them.

Between the two extremes is a more moderate variant with a shorter rear wing. This version also lacks a front spoiler and has fewer canards.

Design and exterior

The details vary, but the LFR resembles a combination of the LFA and the Sport concept. The car has an aggressive front end with three large air intakes and “fangs” in the center. A hood with an air intake and narrow headlights are also present.

Further back are large ventilation holes on the front fenders and massive side skirts. The model also features rear air intakes, alloy wheels, and a high-performance braking system. The rear includes a prominent spoiler, a quad-exhaust system, and a vented bumper.

Interior and technical features

The interior is executed in a minimalist style with supportive sports seats and a separate multimedia system. Drivers will also find a climate control panel and buttons resembling toggle switches. A minimalist gear selector and a digital instrument cluster are expected.

Details of the powertrain remain uncertain, but some hybrid components can be seen through the rear window. Rumors suggest they will assist a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 producing 720 hp. This means the model’s total output could reach around 900 hp, although these figures should be treated with caution.

Given the variety of configurations, Lexus appears to be trying to meet the different needs of buyers—from daily use to track trials. This may indicate the brand’s strategy to combine eco-friendly technologies with high performance, which is becoming increasingly relevant in the modern automotive world.
