New Denza Z Electric Sports Car
BYD, known for affordable electric vehicles and hybrids, through its premium brand Denza, aims to compete with European luxury car manufacturers. The new model, named Z, is a fully electric sports car, the prototype of which recently underwent testing at the Nürburgring track. What can be expected from this car?
Design and Exterior
Denza has been working on this model for a long time and presented it as a concept car earlier this year. The prototype, despite the camouflage, is almost identical to the show model, which is a positive sign. It may not be the most beautiful sports car on the market, but it looks unique and promises high performance.
The car’s exterior includes two large air intakes at the front, a small central grille, and LED headlights. There is also a pronounced front spoiler to improve aerodynamics and aerodynamic valves under the bumper. From the side, the Z looks quite long and has louvers on the front wheel arches, similar to those installed on Porsche RS models.
Tires and Aerodynamics
The photos show that the car is fitted with GitiSport GTR3 semi-slick tires with 325/30 sizes at the rear and 275/35 at the front. Clearly, Denza is targeting high performance indicators, which requires the use of such tires.
The rear of the car is the most interesting: it is equipped with a massive fixed rear wing, a powerful diffuser in the bumper, and LED taillights.
Technical Specifications
Many technical details about the Z remain unknown. Denza did not disclose the type of powertrain of the concept, but local media suggest that the production model will receive a three-motor system. The existing Z9 GT model already uses such a configuration and produces 952 hp. Some sources reported that the Z’s power would be limited to 536 hp, but it would be strange if Denza wanted its first true sports car to have less power than the station wagon.
If the Z has over 900 hp, it will likely be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds or less.
However, as the Nürburgring tests show, straight-line dynamics are not the only important factor. The prototype has powerful brakes and an innovative suspension that includes double wishbones at the front with magnetorheological dampers that change damping force in 10 ms. This can significantly improve the car’s behavior on complex tracks like the Nordschleife.
Interior and Technologies
The Denza Z’s interior will likely be similar to the concept: a digital instrument panel, a central multimedia screen, and a small display for the passenger. The use of high-quality materials such as Alcantara and leather is expected to create a premium feel.
The development of electric sports cars like the Denza Z demonstrates the growing competition in the high-performance car market. The use of advanced technologies, such as the three-motor system and adaptive suspension, could make this model a serious competitor for European brands. Testing at the Nürburgring underscores Denza’s ambition to create not just a fast, but also a manageable car capable of impressing even experienced enthusiasts.
