Compact Hyundai SUV Gets LED ‘Fangs’ and Curved Displays

Hyundai Venue Update

The second generation of the Hyundai Venue has debuted in India. The model received a taller and more cubic body shape, as well as the latest technologies in the interior. The non-electrified powertrains remain unchanged.

The Hyundai Venue is practically a global model, as it is available almost worldwide, except for Europe, where it is replaced by the Bayon model. Six years after its launch, the compact SUV has received a new generation in India with a completely updated design, slightly increased dimensions, and a high-tech interior.

Exterior Changes

The updated exterior resembles a smaller Hyundai Exter, looking less sporty but more robust compared to its predecessor. At the front, new split headlights are equipped with “Twin Horn” daytime running lights, “Quad Beam” LED headlights, and a full-width light bar. They are complemented by a cubic radiator grille and a massive bumper guard with a metallic finish.

The profile features stylized fenders reminiscent of the Tucson, glossy C-pillar appliques, and a straighter stance. The new Venue has become 48 mm taller and 30 mm wider than its predecessor, with a wheelbase of 2520 mm, which has increased by 20 mm. However, the length remains the same – 3995 mm for the Indian version.

At the rear, the full-width taillights resemble Opel models, and the large bumper guard occupies most of the rear bumper. The new 16-inch alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish look quite compact for the height of the SUV, which also received higher roof rails.

Updated Interior

Inside, the main element is the new curved panoramic display system, consisting of two 12.3-inch screens. The redesigned dashboard with modern air vents and the Venue inscription is combined with a new center console that retains physical buttons for the climate control, but in a modern execution. The steering wheel is also updated, with an emblem in the form of four dots, similar to the Ioniq 5.

The interior is executed in dark blue and gray tones, complemented by white ambient lighting and leather seat upholstery. Practicality has been improved thanks to folding rear seats, sunshades, and rear air vents. Hyundai states that the new generation offers more legroom due to the longer wheelbase and the special shape of the seatbacks.

Standard Powertrains

Despite the model being positioned as a new generation, the powertrains remain the same. The Indian lineup is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine producing 82 hp, a turbocharged 1.0-liter engine with 118 hp, or a 1.5-liter turbo-diesel with 114 hp. Depending on the trim, power is sent to the front wheels via a manual gearbox, an automatic transmission, or a CVT.

Hyundai will announce prices for India for the new Venue on November 4, after which a gradual launch in other markets will begin. It is currently unknown whether the second generation of the model will appear in North America. In any case, any updates will occur for the 2027 model year, as the current model was recently updated for 2026.

The appearance of the updated Venue in India may influence Hyundai’s global strategy regarding compact SUVs, especially given the growing competition in this segment. The retention of the previous powertrains may indicate cost optimization, potentially allowing the model to be offered at a competitive price in developing markets.
