Official Teaser and Premiere Date
Toyota has finally announced the date of the global premiere of the updated Hilux pickup, which will take place on November 10 in Thailand. The company published the first official teaser, allowing a glimpse of the new vehicle’s exterior. This model will replace the previous generation, which has been on sale since 2015 and underwent facelifts in 2017, 2020, and 2024.
Key Model Updates
Exterior and Design
The video published by Toyota’s Thai subsidiary showcases the new Hilux design. The front of the car features narrower and sharper LED headlights, combined with a sculpted hood and larger air intakes on the bumper. The side view remains quite recognizable: the double cab, sports bar, and pronounced wheel arches return. The rear is distinguished by angular taillights with modern LED graphics and tailgate that now features an integrated spoiler. The radiator grille is adorned with a large TOYOTA logo, and the rear features the Hilux lettering. The version from the teaser is also equipped with black alloy wheels with seven double spokes.
Interior and Comfort
Although the teaser did not show the interior, images of the dashboard have already surfaced online. The interior is expected to combine a digital instrument cluster with a separately located multimedia system screen, integrated into a more angular dashboard. The quality of materials is expected to improve thanks to new trim and upholstery options, bringing the pickup closer to the comfort level of crossovers.
Platform and Technical Features
Despite the design updates, the Hilux will retain its base. Instead of the new TNGA-F platform used by the Tacoma and Land Cruiser, the model will likely receive an updated version of the existing IMV frame. However, the revised chassis and expanded suite of driver assistance systems should make the car more modern in terms of handling.
Powertrains
Under the hood, the 2.8-liter turbo-diesel hybrid producing 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque, as in the previous model, will most likely remain. Power will be sent to the rear or all four wheels via an automatic transmission. Recent data from Australia suggests that the 2.4-liter diesel and 2.7-liter petrol engines are being discontinued. Subsequently, Toyota plans to expand the lineup with hybrid and fully electric versions for those who prefer eco-friendly solutions.

Further Details and Competitors
The remaining information, including prices, trim levels, and the degree of the model’s novelty, will be revealed on November 10. Production will remain in Thailand, where most Hilux units are assembled. After its market launch, the updated pickup will face stiff competition from models such as the Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara, Kia Tasman, and numerous Chinese counterparts.
The Hilux update reflects the general trend among automakers towards strengthening environmental standards and increasing comfort in the commercial vehicle segment. Retaining the traditional platform and diesel engine may be a strategy to meet the needs of markets where reliability and fuel efficiency remain priorities, while simultaneously preparing the ground for future electric versions.
