Model Line Update
In just a week, the new Nissan Navara pickup model will be officially presented, replacing the long-running D24 series. This new product is part of a broader lineup being developed for different markets under one name.
Design and Platform
Prior to the official premiere, digital artist Nikita Chuiko from Kolesa combined previous Nissan teasers to create a plausible image of the future model. Since this version of the Navara, intended for Asian markets, Australia, and other regions, will use the same platform as the Mitsubishi Triton, its overall design is not a surprise.
Compared to the Triton, the main changes concern the front end, where the Navara will get a characteristic radiator grille and Nissan headlights. The rear will retain the contour of the Triton’s lights but will add a black insert on the tailgate and the model name executed in metal. The side view will remain almost unchanged, except for minor trim details.
This version of the Navara is just one of many being developed or sold globally, united only by the name. The specific model shown in the teasers is based on the Mitsubishi and is not related to the future South American Navara or the Chinese Frontier Pro.
History and Official Premiere
After over a decade on the market, the D24 Nissan Navara model is preparing to end production. The Japanese automaker confirmed that it will be replaced by a completely new generation, whose debut is scheduled for November 19 in Australia and New Zealand.

The announcement was accompanied by a teaser video highlighting the Navara’s heritage in the Oceania region and giving a first look at the new model, which will be a twin brother of the Mitsubishi Triton. Nissan notes that, despite the common features, the design of the new product will include elements that pay homage to previous generations.
Stylistic Features
Unique Nissan stylistic details will include individual graphics for the LED headlights and taillights, a sculpted hood, a new radiator grille, and an updated bumper. The teasers also show a sports bar, indicating a higher trim level. The lineup will offer various cab configurations for commercial and personal needs.

Technical Specifications
The pickup will be built on the Mitsubishi frame, introduced in 2023, but Nissan engineers have promised significant changes in design and technical parts for greater differentiation from the counterparts. The powertrain will likely include a 2.4-liter turbo diesel with 201 hp, as well as a plug-in hybrid version, aligning with the trends of pickup electrification.

Trims and Competitors
Nissan also plans to introduce the powerful Pro-4X Warrior version, developed jointly with Premcar, and is considering the possibility of releasing a model under the NISMO brand. The launch of the new generation Navara in Australia and New Zealand is scheduled for the first half of 2026. Since its debut in the region in 1986, over 420,000 units have been sold.

The competitors of the new Navara will be the Toyota Hilux, which is also expecting an update next year, the Ford Ranger – the sales leader in Australia, as well as the Volkswagen Amarok, Kia Tasman, Isuzu D-Max, Mazda BT-50, JAC T9, MGU9, GWM Cannon Ute, and BYD Shark.
Nissan’s collaboration with Mitsubishi allows for reduced development costs but simultaneously poses the challenge of creating a unique character for each model. For markets such as Australia, where pickups have an iconic status, combining the qualities of both brands could be the key to success, especially considering the growing competition from Asian manufacturers.
