The Sony Honda Mobility joint venture has unveiled its first electric vehicle named the Afeela 1. The car is already available for order in North America, with its base version priced at $89,900.
Technical Specifications and Features
The new electric car is built on a dedicated platform and equipped with a 91 kWh battery. The powertrain consists of two electric motors, providing all-wheel drive and a total output of up to 483 horsepower. The announced driving range has not been disclosed yet.
The main innovation offered by the Afeela 1 is the deep integration of Sony’s entertainment technologies. The car will become the first mass-produced vehicle to support PS Remote Play, allowing passengers to play games from PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4 directly on the road.

Pricing and Availability
The price of $89,900 applies to the base configuration. However, the first cars to go on sale will be in the maximum trim level, with a starting price of $102,900. The manufacturer justifies the high cost with the unique technological experience the car offers.
For comfortable gaming on the road, a stable internet connection is required. The minimum recommended download speed is 5 Mbps, while for smooth gameplay it is better to have at least 15 Mbps. The game can be controlled using a standard PlayStation gamepad or via the touchscreen of the multimedia system.
The integration of PS Remote Play embodies AFEELA’s vision for mobility: transforming the travel space into an exciting and emotional one. Thanks to this integration, we elevate the entire customer travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment.
Additional Technological Solutions
In addition to gaming functions, the Afeela 1 will also be one of the first cars that can be purchased with a digital license plate. This technology from Reviver company once again emphasizes that even a detail like a license plate becomes part of the software-defined future in this car.
Sales will begin next year, with California being the first region. There is no information yet on when the car will become available in other US states or beyond.
The emergence of the Afeela 1 marks an interesting stage where the boundaries between the automotive industry and the high-tech sector are becoming increasingly blurred. The success of this project will depend not only on the technical characteristics as an electric vehicle but also on how willing consumers are to pay a premium for a completely new, hybrid experience where the car ceases to be just a means of transportation. This also poses new challenges for traditional manufacturers, forcing them to rethink their products in an era when the car’s interior is increasingly viewed as an extension of the user’s digital living space.
