Kimera Automobili became famous for its restomods inspired by the legendary Lancia 037. However, the real cars of this brand, equipped with rally technology, are very expensive — over half a million dollars. For those who admire the design but are not ready for such expenses, a much more affordable alternative has appeared, one that can fit on a bookshelf.
Details of the Scale Model
This is about an accurate 1:18 scale replica of the Kimera EVO38, made of resin by Tecnomodel. The model is offered in two color options: a rich metallic red or a distinctive golden-yellow color that replicates the paint of the original car. Both variants are complemented by carbon fiber-look elements made of carbon plastic, including the splitter, radiator grille, air intakes, side lines, mirrors, side skirts, and rear diffuser. These details emphasize the dynamic silhouette of the model.
The model is mounted on rally-style alloy wheels with miniature Pirelli P Zero tires, which even feature the red detailing found on the full-size car. Unlike typical die-cast models, resin replicas are often made non-disassemblable, which allows for sharper details. This is especially noticeable in the interior: the cabin features retro-style instruments, bucket seats, and through the transparent hood, one can see the centrally located engine.
Technical Features of the Original
The real EVO38 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine producing 600 horsepower, a six-speed manual transmission, and an all-wheel-drive system inherited from motorsport. The car also features an electro-hydraulic differential, making it high-tech and focused on driver feedback.
Limited Edition and Price
The production of the model, like the original car, is limited. While the full-size EVO38 was produced in only 38 units, the scale version will be released in a run of 150 pieces. The price of the model is about 300 euros, which is approximately equivalent to 350 US dollars. This price is higher than typical resin models but significantly lower than premium die-cast replicas from brands like Amalgam.

The same retailer also presented a model of the 1983 Lancia 037 as part of a set with a Fiat 242 van and a trailer from Ottomobile. This set costs 254 euros and can form the basis for a desktop diorama or a compact dream garage collection.
The appearance of such detailed scale models allows car enthusiasts who cannot afford million-dollar restomods to become part of the automotive culture world. It also highlights the growing demand for high-quality collectibles that accurately reproduce the spirit and engineering achievements of the originals. The limited edition maintains exclusivity, making each model not just a toy, but an art object for serious collectors.
