Japanese tuning atelier Kuhl unveils an incredibly modified Land Cruiser 250
Japanese tuning company Kuhl, known for its bold and dramatic projects, continues to set the bar high. Following the recent showcase of its off-roader based on the Toyota GR86, the team is preparing an even more impressive exhibit for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. This is a radically modified Land Cruiser that resembles a giant toy or a monster for conquering the toughest obstacles more than a production off-road vehicle.
Key features of the “Blocker Iron Build” project
This off-roader received the so-called “Blocker Iron Build” treatment. The most noticeable elements are the colossal wheels, which make the car look like a huge children’s toy. The vehicle is mounted on 22-inch Kuhl Verz DR03 forged wheels with a deep dish, clad in massive 37-inch Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 off-road tires.
These tires are not just for show. Combined with an adjustable suspension and spacers from JAOS, the Land Cruiser Iron Build is raised a full 7 inches (178 mm) higher than the standard model. The ground clearance reaches 15.7 inches (399 mm), officially surpassing even the figures of the AMG G 63 4×4².
Full body armoring
The Kuhl specialists did not limit themselves to just a lift. The modification kit includes a full set of steel body components. The front and rear bumpers are protected by additional elements, side steps are installed, and massive 2.8-inch (70 mm) diameter tubular fenders are fitted. The underside of the vehicle is protected by a proprietary skid plate, and a 40-inch IPF LED light bar is mounted on the full-length roof rail. A roof spoiler and an additional spoiler on the tailgate are also present.
Future plans and availability
The Iron Build project will be presented at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026. Simultaneously, Kuhl is developing a sportier FRP plastic body kit for the Land Cruiser 250. The future package will include redesigned front and rear bumpers with cutouts to accommodate large wheels, as well as wheel arch extensions. These new components are planned to debut at the Osaka Auto Messe 2026, which will take place from February 13th to 15th.
The company also offers the Land Cruiser Iron Build for sale, both as a complete vehicle and as separate kits for owners of compatible models.
The first available example is built on the VX trim and retains the standard 2.7-liter gasoline engine. Its price is approximately ¥6,790,000 (which at the current exchange rate is about $43,300), of which ¥920,000 (about $5,900) is the cost of the upgrade kit itself. Although this version received the full Kuhl Blocker Iron Build treatment, it is somewhat more restrained: it is fitted with smaller 18-inch Verz-Kross X6 wheels with less aggressive all-terrain tires. However, even in this form, it’s hard to call this car inconspicuous.
Such projects demonstrate how deep the customization of modern off-roaders can be, transforming them from utilitarian transport into unique art objects or extreme machines. The demand for such transformations indicates that the high-quality tuning market continues to evolve, offering car owners the opportunity to create truly individual vehicles that stand out not only in power but also in radical appearance. This also underscores the robustness and popularity of the Land Cruiser platform as an ideal base for such experiments.
