An Ambitious Project from Renntech
In the world of Mercedes-Benz tuning, the American company Renntech, which has been operating for over 35 years, has presented one of its boldest projects. The new model is named the Renntech SEC V12 Sledgehammer, a nod to the legendary AMG models from the late 1980s called “Hammer.”
Heart from a Supercar
The car will be based on the iconic Mercedes C126 SEC coupe, and its foundation will be the naturally aspirated M120 V12 engine. This engine gained fame thanks to its use in cars like the Mercedes CLK GTR and Pagani Zonda. Renntech engineers have carried out a deep modernization of it.
Renntech has reengineered this powerplant, increasing its displacement to 7.5 liters, which allows it to produce 660 hp and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque.
To make the exhaust sound authentic, like in a Pagani, special equal-length headers were developed for the engine. Although the type of transmission has not been disclosed yet, most likely, power will be transmitted only to the rear wheels.

Exclusive Design and Limited Series
Each of the 12 planned examples will receive a unique aggressive appearance, differing from the standard C126. The renders show a completely redesigned body.

The car will receive new radiator grilles, a specially shaped hood, and significantly widened fenders. These changes not only alter the appearance but also improve aerodynamic characteristics.

Exterior and Interior Details
Under the new body, alloy wheels and powerful braking mechanisms will be installed. The rear will receive a new bumper, diffuser, and a bright spoiler. Interior details have not been revealed yet, but each buyer will be able to individually choose upholstery materials and trim to create a unique space.

The price for this unique restomod has not been announced yet. It is known that the first customer car is planned to be completed by 2027. This project combines the spirit of a classic Mercedes-Benz with modern tuning technologies and the emotions from an engine that once powered supercars, making each example a true collectible artifact.
