A rare 1967 Ford GT40 Mk I has been put up for auction in Miami. This is one of only 31 Mk I examples adapted for public road use. The lot’s starting estimate is between $6.5 and $8 million, which is equivalent to approximately 250-308 million UAH at the current exchange rate. This is reported by RM Sotheby’s.

The car has chassis P/1058 and is one of 87 GT40 Mk I built. The vehicle was assembled at the Ford Advanced Vehicles plant in Slough, UK, and in December 1966 was sent to Dearborn for Ford’s promotional needs. In April 1967, the car was displayed at the Tasca Ford dealership in Massachusetts alongside the Mustang Cobra Jet prototype.

The road-going Mk I models were created to comply with FIA Group 4 requirements. They received mirrors, reverse lights, a heated windshield, leather seats, interior carpeting, and Borrani wire wheels. Additionally, the front featured a FORD script, similar to the Mustang of that period.

The car is equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter Ford 289 High Performance V8 with original Weber carburetors and a five-speed ZF transmission. The model has a fully documented ownership history and is listed in the SAAC registry and Ronnie Spain’s research.

Over the years, the car has been owned by notable collectors and dealers in the USA. In the 2000s, it was restored by Grand Touring Cars in Arizona, returning it to its factory Carmen Red color. In 2021, the engine underwent a technical refresh, after which the car was kept in a private collection in Texas.
