Skoda Launches Large Electric Vehicle to Compete with Hyundai Ioniq 9

First Photos and Design

Skoda recently officially confirmed the name of its future electric crossover – Peaq. Now, a camouflaged prototype of this model has been photographed during winter testing. The car, inspired by the Vision 7S concept, will debut in the summer, and its design resembles the Hyundai Ioniq 9. Despite the deceptive camouflage wrap, angular air intakes and a trapezoidal lower radiator grille with stylized lines can be discerned.

The radiator grille and front lighting are hidden under camouflage but likely conceal a new “Tech‑Deck Face” front panel, similar to the concept. An approximate view allows us to see C-shaped headlights connected by a lower light strip.

Exterior and Body Features

The side view reveals thin A-pillars that flow into a long, sloping roofline. They are complemented by a large glass area, streamlined body shapes, and flush door handles. The model also has pronounced wheel arches, although the camouflage may visually thicken them.

The rear of the car features a stylish tailgate with a trapezoidal accent and a characteristic spoiler. The rear light graphics on the prototype are simulated, but most likely, T-shaped LED sections are hidden underneath, echoing the design of the front headlights.

Interior and Space

Photographers were unable to peek inside; however, Skoda previously stated that this seven-seat model would take “spaciousness and practicality to a whole new level.” The cabin can be expected to be quite high-end, as the Peaq will become the brand’s flagship model.

Technical Specifications and Platform

Details of the powertrain remain unknown for now, but it is known that the crossover is built on the MEB electric platform. The model will most likely receive several powertrain options. If we refer to the concept, the production car could be equipped with an 89 kWh battery, providing a range of over 600 kilometers according to the WLTP standard. The Peaq may also gain the capability for DC fast charging at around 200 kW.

The model may borrow some solutions from the Enyaq, which offers all-wheel-drive systems with two motors producing 282 and 335 horsepower. However, the newer Peaq could receive more powerful and efficient electric motors.

The arrival of the Peaq is a logical step for Skoda in expanding its electric portfolio, especially in the large family car market. Competition in the three-row electric crossover segment is intensifying, and the model’s success will depend not only on range but also on the final price, interior quality, and infotainment systems. Given the trends, it can be assumed that Skoda will focus precisely on practicality and family comfort to differentiate itself from competitors who often emphasize sportiness or luxury.
