Honda and Acura Classic Car Parts Reproduction Program
Following Honda’s announcement of plans to create a new parts reproduction program for historical models, it has been revealed that Acura will launch it first in the United States. However, the program will not cover mass-market models like the Honda Civic. Instead, it will begin with the production of reproduced components for the first-generation Acura NSX.
The Honda Heritage Parts program consists of two main areas: ‘Genuine Honda Reproduced Parts’ and ‘Honda Compatible Parts’. The first area involves reproducing components using original materials and manufacturing technologies. The second focuses on newly developed parts designed to replace components that are no longer in production.
Wide Range of Components and Future Models
Over time, the program will offer a variety of components: from powertrains, exterior and interior to electrical systems and chassis. The full list of available parts along with information on prices and availability will be announced later.
Honda also notes that while the original NSX is the first model to receive support, the company is evaluating the possibility of reproducing parts for other classic Honda and Acura sports models.
Full Factory Restorations
This new initiative is part of the broader Honda Heritage Works business and officially launches in Japan on April 1, 2026. Alongside the parts program, the Honda Restoration Service will also be introduced.
This service will be available exclusively in Japan for first-generation NSX models intended for the Japanese market and will involve a full vehicle restoration carried out by Honda itself.
It will replace the recently discontinued NSX Refresh Plan and will use Heritage Parts to return these cars to a near-original state.
Steven Bailey, Vice President of Honda and Acura Parts, noted: “In this year of the Acura brand’s 40th anniversary, the launch of Honda Heritage Parts is particularly significant, giving Acura enthusiasts the support they need to continue enjoying their first-generation Acura NSX vehicles. At the heart of the new Honda Heritage Parts program is our shared passion for these iconic cars, and it helps ensure they can be enjoyed by future generations.”
The launch of such a program indicates a growing interest among automakers in supporting their historical heritage and classic car owner communities. This not only allows iconic models to be kept on the roads but also creates a new business direction focused on nostalgia and high-quality service. The limitation of the full restoration service to Japan may be a temporary step, and depending on the program’s success, its geographical scope may expand. The success of the NSX initiative will likely be a decisive factor for including other legendary models, such as the Honda S2000 or Integra Type R, in the program, as already mentioned in the company’s evaluations.
