New Ferrari Project in Maranello Has Nothing to Do with Cars

Ferrari Opens Diagnostic Center in Maranello

The latest headlines about Ferrari have been related to rear wings for Formula 1 and their future electric car. However, away from the racetracks and product plans, the company has been working on something much less expected. In Maranello, the “Prancing Horse” has joined forces with Philips and Med-Ex to open a new medical diagnostic center that will serve both Ferrari employees and the local community.

Access to High-Tech Preventive Medicine

This step means that state-of-the-art preventive medicine is now accessible. The operator Med-Ex is a long-term medical partner of Ferrari, while the diagnostic equipment itself was provided by Philips. The emphasis is on simplification and convenience to ensure access to early disease detection and specialist assessment without the need to spend a lot of time in queues and on travel to large cities.

Prevention is Better Than Cure

This is the first time in Italy that a diagnostic center of this level has been created by a company outside the healthcare sector in collaboration with public institutions. Regional and local authorities worked closely with Ferrari to ensure that this project would strengthen the existing public health system, not compete with it.

Collaboration with the Public Health System

The center will sign a three-year contract with the Local Health Authority of Modena to provide mammography services to women residing in Maranello, Formigine, and Fiorano. As part of the regional prevention program, approximately 8,300 examinations will be conducted, and reports will be provided by public health specialists. The goal is to strengthen cancer screening campaigns and ensure greater accessibility of regular check-ups at the local level.

The Center as a Platform for Research and Remote Consultations

The center also aims to become a platform for epidemiological research, which can be supported by data analysis work from Med-Ex. Furthermore, it will provide remote consultation services with highly accredited public health centers in Italy. This means patients can have their clinical documentation assessed by experts without the need to physically travel between hospitals.

Non-Commercial Nature of the Initiative

Ferrari emphasizes that profit is not even discussed when it comes to giving back to society. Any surplus related to the center’s activities will be reinvested in medical and technical training, as well as in scholarships for young doctors and healthcare workers. The plan is to develop skills in the region and create long-term value.

Modern Medical Equipment of the Center

From a technical standpoint, the facility is equipped with high-level diagnostic tools, including whole-body MRI, spectral computed tomography, tomosynthesis mammography, digital radiography, and DEXA bone densitometry. Software with artificial intelligence integration facilitates faster image processing and increased accuracy, helping doctors make clearer conclusions in less time.

Expansion of Ferrari’s Social Programs

The center also expands the social programs already in place at Ferrari. Under the Formula Benessere program, over 4,000 employees undergo medical check-ups annually, and over 1,000 employees’ children receive consultations through the Formula Benessere Junior program. Ferrari employees can now easily access an even wider range of specialized services under one roof thanks to the new center.

This project demonstrates how large corporations can go beyond their core business to address important societal needs. Ferrari’s initiative not only improves access to medicine for its workers and residents of the region but also serves as an example of a successful public-private partnership model in healthcare, where private sector technology and resources complement the state system. Such steps can have a significant multiplier effect, promoting the development of local communities and setting new standards for corporate social responsibility.
