Production of the Porsche 911 Sport Classic was limited to just 1,250 cars worldwide. Under the hood of this special model lies a 3.7-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine producing 543 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. What makes this car even more desirable for collectors is the presence of a seven-speed manual transmission.

Collectors often rave about naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engines, like those in the 911 GT3 or the limited-edition S/T. However, the 2023 Porsche 911 Sport Classic proves that a valuable 911 specimen doesn’t necessarily need such an engine to become a coveted object. It’s been nearly four years since its debut. While stylistically similar to the GT3-based S/T, its technical underpinnings are different.

One such car, with only 4,000 miles on the odometer, was recently listed on the Bring a Trailer auction, where a fierce bidding war erupted. As a result, it sold for $511,000, an impressive sum considering its MSRP of $283,240.

According to the seller, this Sport Classic was previously held in the private collection of a Porsche dealership manager before being privately sold to the current owner in the spring of 2025. The amount of that deal was not disclosed, but the half-million-dollar sale likely resulted in a net profit for the seller.

Tribute to Classic Design

The Sport Classic’s appeal, of course, is not limited to its powertrain. Porsche also did a fantastic job with the design, paying homage to the original 911 Carrera RS 2.7 with a large ‘ducktail’ spoiler, Fuchs-style wheels, and gold emblems. This example is painted in timeless Sport Gray Metallic with contrasting graphic elements.

The interior is also brilliant. The seats and door panels are upholstered in Classic Cognac leather with Pepita fabric inserts. The manufacturer added open-pore wood trim to the dashboard and center console, as well as installing a superb Burmester High-End Surround Sound audio system.

Signature Approach to Collector Models

Such success is no surprise. Porsche has been honing the art of creating limited-edition 911s that attract enthusiasts like bees to honey for decades. The only question is how much higher the prices for such cars can rise in the future. This story vividly demonstrates how the combination of unique technical specifications, historical design references, and an extremely low number of units creates a perfect storm in the collector car market. Demand for such special models seems to only intensify over time, transforming them from mere vehicles into status assets whose value can significantly exceed the initial price.
