New Gasoline Version of the Fiat 600
The Fiat company is expanding the 600 model family by adding a new affordable version with a gasoline engine. This model will become an alternative to the existing hybrid and electric variants, and its launch will be marked by the release of a special series.
Technical Features of the Gasoline Model
The new version, named the 600 Petrol, is positioned for customers who value a simple, direct, and engaging driving experience. Although engine details are revealed cautiously, it is known to be equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger, a silent timing chain, and a high-pressure direct injection system.
This power unit develops 99 horsepower and is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. There is speculation that this is the same powertrain as in the Grande Panda model, meaning it could be a three-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged engine.
Trims and Equipment
The new gasoline engine will be available for all trim levels. The base 600 Petrol Pop variant will likely receive LED optics and 16-inch steel wheels. The interior will be quite simple but will feature a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch multimedia system, and automatic climate control.
More expensive versions will offer 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents, and tinted rear windows. Options may include interior ambient lighting, an electrically adjustable interior rearview mirror, wireless smartphone charging, and leather seats.
Special Street Edition Series
To mark the launch of the gasoline version, Fiat has introduced a limited Street Edition series. The car features a two-tone body paint, a glossy black radiator grille, black door handles, and emblems. The model is also distinguished by black 18-inch alloy wheels and red with chrome “Street” lettering on the body.
The dark theme continues inside, where a black dashboard and headliner are installed. These are complemented by black seats with an embroidered “FIAT” logo, white contrast stitching, and a “600” patch.
Production of this special series is limited to only 2000 units. Information on pricing has not been disclosed yet.
The appearance of a gasoline version in the Fiat 600 lineup is a logical step to expand the audience and offer a more affordable option compared to electric and hybrid models. This allows the brand to reach those buyers who prefer traditional powertrains and manual transmissions, especially in markets where electric vehicle infrastructure is still developing. The limited Street Edition series, in turn, serves as a marketing tool to generate buzz around the novelty and emphasize its sporty image.
