The Japanese market is receiving an updated version of the compact Honda N-Van van for the 2026 model year. The car, which has remained popular since 2018, has received a number of technical and equipment improvements.
Updates for the city and nature
The model’s design remains unchanged, retaining its unique feature – a pillarless construction on the passenger side for easy access, and flat-folding seats for cargo transport or creating a resting area. The main changes occurred inside the cabin and under the hood.
The most noticeable interior update was the introduction of a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a new two-spoke steering wheel, borrowed from the fully electric N-Van e: and the N-Box model. Also, in the top Fun trim, the standard USB-A ports have been replaced with modern USB-C.
More powerful engine for adventure
The flagship “Nature Style” version, aimed at outdoor and camping enthusiasts, received a serious technical update. Instead of a naturally aspirated engine, it is now equipped with a more powerful turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a displacement of 660 cc.
This unit develops 63 hp, which is 11 hp more than the base version (52 hp), making the van more suitable for highway and high-speed road travel.
The exterior appearance of the Nature Style version, with black accents and thematic decals, remains characteristic. The Fun trim received new paint options, such as “Autumn Yellow Pearl” and “Botanical Green Pearl.” Furthermore, buyers can personalize their vehicle using accessories from the official Honda Access catalog.
Improved base trim and safety
Updates for the entire Honda N-Van lineup include an expansion of the list of standard equipment, particularly in the area of safety. Front parking sensors and a Collision Mitigation Braking System are now included as standard equipment on all versions, complementing the already available Honda Sensing suite of active safety systems.
Also, the basic work trims “G” and “L” received an engine start button and a function to suppress sudden acceleration, making the car easier and safer to operate.
Price and availability
The introduction of new features has led to a certain price increase compared to the previous model. The starting price for the 2026 Honda N-Van begins at 1,498,200 yen (approximately $9,500) for the base G version with front-wheel drive and a manual transmission. The most advanced Turbo Fun Nature Style version with all-wheel drive and a CVT will cost 2,269,300 yen (about $14,400).
These updates clearly demonstrate Honda’s strategy of improving even the smallest and most practical models in its lineup. The power increase for the top version makes it more versatile, expanding its usage scenarios beyond the city, while raising the standard safety level keeps the car relevant in the modern market. Preserving key practical advantages, such as the modular cabin, along with the gradual updating of technologies, allows the N-Van to remain a competitive offering in its segment, which is very popular in Japan among both commercial users and private owners who value compactness and functionality.
