Your Stellantis Electric Vehicle Now Supports Charging at Tesla Supercharger Stations, but the Service Costs an Additional $230

Access to the Tesla Supercharger Network for Stellantis Electric Vehicles

Over two years ago, the Stellantis group confirmed it would switch to the North American Charging Standard (NACS), which would open access for its electric vehicles to Tesla’s extensive network of fast-charging stations. Although the process took some time, owners of the group’s electric vehicles can now use Tesla charging stations across North America.

Terms and Models Supporting the Standard

All key Stellantis electric vehicles are now compatible with NACS. However, there is an important condition: owners of relevant Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Fiat, and Maserati models will need a special Free2move Charge NACS adapter. It can be purchased through Mopar or certified Stellantis dealerships. Currently, the adapter costs approximately $230 in the Mopar online store or $250 at dealerships.

This adapter works with Tesla Supercharger V3 and V4 stations. If the adapter is not yet available, some electric vehicles can still connect to Tesla Magic Dock Supercharger stations, which already have a built-in adapter.

The list of compatible models includes the 2024-2026 Dodge Charger Daytona, 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S, 2024-2026 Ram ProMaster EV, 2024-2026 Fiat 500e, as well as the 2024-2026 Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Folgore, and the 2025-2026 Maserati Grecale Folgore. The upcoming 2026 Jeep Recon will also support this feature.

Prospects for Implementing Native NACS Ports

Unfortunately, none of these models are equipped with a standard NACS port, so owners have to address this issue themselves. The first vehicle to receive full integration of the Tesla-designed port, meaning it will be able to connect to Superchargers without any adapter, will be the 2027 Dodge Charger Daytona. Stellantis has not yet announced exactly when this will happen.

For current owners, access to the Tesla Supercharger network is available, but it is not as seamless as it could be. Compatible Stellantis models can connect via the Free2move Charge app, which shows Tesla locations alongside other AC and DC stations across North America.

Context of Automakers Switching to NACS

Stellantis became the last automaker in the US to commit to switching to the NACS standard for actual network access. Other brands that can already use Tesla Superchargers include Ford, Rivian, GM, Volvo, Nissan, Polestar, Lucid, Mercedes, Hyundai, Genesis, Kia, Honda, Acura, JLR, Audi, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen, Subaru, and BMW. This transition is part of a broader industry trend aimed at unifying charging infrastructure, which is expected to make life easier for electric vehicle owners and accelerate the development of electromobility as a whole. The success of this initiative will largely depend on the availability of adapters and the further integration of native ports into new vehicle models.
