New Ferrari 12Cilindri Recalled Due to Tinting Issue
The new Ferrari 12Cilindri grand tourer, equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine, has encountered an unexpected problem in the US market. The manufacturer has announced a recall of a specific batch of cars due to a violation of glass transparency standards.
Key facts of the situation:
What is the Problem?
Ferrari discovered that for the US-specification 12Cilindri, the rear and side windows were accidentally installed with a tint that is too dark. This glass does not meet the requirements of the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards regarding light transmission. The company notes that the problem occurred due to an incorrect configuration of the model’s technical specifications for the US market.
The company says it learned about the problem earlier this month during the pre-delivery phase of one 12Cilindri in the USA.
Scale of the Recall
The recall affects 80 units of the Ferrari 12Cilindri for the 2025-2026 model years, manufactured between October 4, 2024, and November 24, 2025. Ferrari believes that 100% of these cars have the specified problem. Fortunately, the company has not received any warranty claims or reports of incidents caused by the tinted windows.

How Will the Issue Be Resolved?
Starting May 15, dealers will receive instructions to replace the rear and side windows with new ones that fully comply with the standard requirements. Ferrari also reported that it has already corrected this problem in production this month, guaranteeing that no other 12Cilindri for the US market will leave the factory with non-compliant glass.
Technical Advantages of the Model
Aside from this incident, the 12Cilindri remains an outstanding grand tourer. The car is equipped with a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 819 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 678 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm.
This situation with Ferrari is a reminder of the complexity of the global automotive business, where each market has its own specific, often very detailed, technical regulations. Even manufacturers renowned for their meticulousness can face such administrative discrepancies. It is important that the problem was detected at an early stage and concerns not driving safety but equipment standards, which will allow it to be resolved quickly without risk to drivers. Such cases also demonstrate how strict visibility requirements are for cars in some markets, which is often related to ensuring the safety of all road users.
