New Range Rover flagship: SV Ultra with a unique audio system
Range Rover has unveiled a new top-end version of its SUV — the SV Ultra. This model is positioned as the most technologically equipped and sophisticated interpretation of the flagship SUV. It features the world’s first electrostatic audio system, which works in tandem with a haptic floor. Buyers will be offered a choice between a petrol V8, a hybrid (PHEV), and a fully electric version (BEV).
Innovative audio system and tactile sensations
The main highlight of the new model is the SV Electrostatic Sound system. It is designed to transform the car’s interior into a concert hall where every passenger finds themselves at the center of the soundstage. This is the most advanced audio system ever installed in a Range Rover. It is available as an option for all SV versions, including the new Ultra.
The system consists of 21 lightweight thin-film transducers built into the headrests, seat backs, and ceiling. Each membrane is only one millimeter thick, reacts 1000 times faster than a conventional speaker, and consumes 90% less energy.
To ensure passengers not only hear but also feel the music, the system works together with the Body and Soul Seats (BASS) technology and a sensory haptic floor. Transducers are located inside the seats and under the floor mats, creating pulsations tuned by artificial intelligence. Besides entertainment, these functions can be used for six wellness modes — from “Calm” to “Invigorating”.
Restrained luxury in exterior and interior
The SV Ultra is built on the long-wheelbase four-seat version of the Range Rover. The bodywork features an exclusive Titan Silver paint finish, created using aluminum flakes to achieve a liquid metal effect.
The new color is combined with silver inserts on the front end and satin platinum accents on the grille, side vents, and tailgate trim. The SUV is fitted with 23-inch alloy wheels featuring a two-tone finish that matches the body color.
Inside the SV Ultra, leather has been abandoned. The upholstery is made from Ultrafabrics materials in Orchid White and Cinder Grey colors. The seats feature a laser mosaic pattern with fine perforation that conceals the audio components.
Another interesting detail is the new rattan palm veneer. Thanks to a patented process, the natural open texture of the wood is preserved. The veneer is tinted Orchid White and extends from the dashboard to the electric tables in the rear cabin.
Powertrain options
The SV Ultra offers a choice between a traditional V8 engine and electrified versions. The P540 version uses a 4.4-liter V8 engine produced by BMW, which delivers 533 hp (397 kW).
The hybrid P550e version (PHEV) provides a total power output of 542 hp (405 kW) and can travel up to 119 km (74 miles) on electric power alone under the WLTP cycle. The fully electric Range Rover SV Ultra is expected to arrive later this year.
Pricing and availability
The 2027 Range Rover SV Ultra has already gone on sale in select markets, but access is limited. In the UK, the model can only be purchased by invitation. In Australia, the price starts from 472,400 Australian dollars (approximately 337,000 US dollars) excluding on-road costs, making it one of the most expensive Range Rovers in history.
Thus, the new SV Ultra not only expands the lineup but also sets new standards of luxury and technology in the segment. The combination of a unique audio system, eco-friendly interior materials, and a choice of several powertrains, including a future electric version, makes it attractive to the most discerning customers. The limited access to purchase only underscores the exclusivity of this model, which is likely to become a benchmark for the entire premium SUV class.
