Circumstances of the accident
The accident occurred around 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Scott Road and 71st Avenue in North Delta. As seen in videos posted on social media, the superbike, resembling a Suzuki GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition, was thrown upward by the force of the impact after colliding with a silver BMW 3-Series sedan.
After a short flight, the motorcycle landed on the horizontal beam of a traffic light, hooking its front wheel onto the metal structure. Surveillance cameras captured the rider being thrown forward and falling onto the asphalt.

According to preliminary data, the BMW was turning left into the entrance of a shopping center. Speed may also have played a role, leaving the motorcyclist almost no time to react.
The video shows the motorcyclist braking sharply, lifting the rear wheel into the air. However, this was not enough to avoid the collision, and the front part of the sedan acted as a ramp.
Consequences and rescue
Despite the striking scene, the outcome was less tragic than it seemed. According to authorities, the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the BMW, fortunately, was unharmed.
Delta firefighters, local police, and the British Columbia Emergency Health Services arrived at the scene and provided immediate assistance. After rescuing the victim, the rescuers helped remove the superbike from the traffic light and clear the debris.
