Gran Turismo 7 receives a massive update with modern hypercars
Polyphony Digital is preparing a real gift for Gran Turismo 7 players. The free June update, version 1.70, will be released on June 11 and will add five new cars. The main highlight will be four modern racing prototypes competing for victories at Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC).
The list of new additions includes:
Players will also be able to get the Porsche 911 Turbo S Safety Car — a safety car based on the production model. For endurance racing fans, this update is especially significant.
Expanding racing possibilities
Although Gran Turismo 7 already has a considerable selection of prototypes, the addition of four of the most famous hypercars and LMDh-class cars significantly expands the modern Gr.1 lineup. Polyphony Digital did not limit itself to just new cars — update 1.70 also adds five new races on world tracks.
The new events include:
- European FR Challenge 550 – Eiger Nordwand Reverse
- Pickup Truck Race – Fishermans Ranch
- Gr.1 Prototype Series – Watkins Glen Long Course
- Gr.1 Prototype Series – 24 Heures du Mans Racing Circuit
- Gr.1 Prototype Series – Sardegna Road Track A
New opportunities for collectors and photographers
Three new Gr.1 series races are designed specifically for the new cars, giving players a chance to test Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, and Peugeot to the fullest. Furthermore, collectors who reach level 64 will gain access to an additional menu, No. 54, titled “Collection: Hybrid Prototypes,” which, of course, focuses on the new racing machines.
To round off the update, Polyphony has added Pikes Peak as a new location in Scapes mode, allowing players to photograph their favorite cars against the backdrop of the famous track. With four modern racing prototypes appearing simultaneously, this update feels like a true declaration of love for sports cars. The only question that remains is which car players will try out first.

This update marks an important step in the development of Gran Turismo 7, as it not only adds machinery that represents the pinnacle of modern motorsport but also creates a suitable racing environment for it. The simultaneous arrival of four hypercars from different manufacturers allows players to feel the difference in their design philosophy and handling, making the game even more realistic. Given the popularity of the World Endurance Championship, this move by Polyphony Digital could attract a new audience interested in modern motorsport, while also providing experienced players with new challenges and opportunities for strategy tuning.
