New Denza Z Coupe from BYD Develops Almost 1,600 Horsepower, and All of It Will Be Needed for Its Weight of Over 2,260 kg

New Denza Z Sportscar: Impressive Specifications and Versions

The premium brand of BYD, Denza, officially presented its long-awaited sports car Z at the end of April. Initially, a convertible version was shown, and now, six weeks later, images of the coupe have appeared. Along with the new photos, the technical specifications of the powertrains for the entire Z lineup were also released.

Incredible Power and Performance

The most important feature of the Denza Z is its impressive performance. According to data from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the car will be offered with two powertrain options, each using three electric motors.

The base version will feature a 268 hp (200 kW) motor on the front axle and two 215 hp (160 kW) motors on the rear. The total output will be 482 hp (360 kW), which is nearly equal to the figure of the MG Cyberster (502 hp).

For those seeking more power, Denza will offer a version with a 670 hp (500 kW) front motor and two 456 hp (340 kW) rear motors. The combined output reaches 1,582 hp (1,180 kW), exceeding the power of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra (1,526 hp).

Although precise acceleration figures are not yet known, the standard coupe and convertible will be able to reach 300 km/h, while the flagship coupe can go up to 350 km/h.

Aggressive Design and Aerodynamics

The standard coupe looks almost identical to the convertible shown at the Beijing Auto Show, but with a fixed roof. In contrast, the top-tier coupe version has a significantly more aggressive look. This is the one previously spotted during tests at the Nürburgring.

This model is equipped with an enhanced aerodynamic package: a modified front bumper, splitter, large rear wing, and a more powerful diffuser. The weight of the flagship coupe is 2,240 kg. The base coupe is slightly lighter at 2,220 kg, while the convertible is expected to be the heaviest at 2,290 kg.

Price and Prospects

Prices for all three versions of the Denza Z for the Chinese market have not yet been announced. However, they will almost certainly be significantly lower than those of Western competitors in a similar class.

Thus, the Denza Z is positioned as an extremely powerful and technologically advanced sports car that could become a serious player in the electric vehicle market, offering outstanding performance at a relatively affordable price. The emergence of a version with over 1,500 hp demonstrates BYD’s ambition to compete not only with mass-market models but also with the most expensive and fastest electric supercars in the world.
