Spies have spotted a $580,000 BMW V8 Shooting Brake without camouflage

BMW Speedtop: Production version of exclusive shooting brake spotted without camouflage

Spy photographers have managed to capture the production version of the BMW Speedtop without any camouflage. This car is the production embodiment of the concept of the same name presented last year. As planned, production will be limited to just 70 examples, and rumor has it that all have already found owners, despite a price tag exceeding 500,000 euros (about $580,000 at current exchange rates).

Externally, the production Speedtop is almost indistinguishable from the concept. The front end features the familiar slim headlights and massive kidney grille with chrome surround and horizontal slats, which are mirrored in the shape of the air intakes. The car also has a distinctive hood and raked windshield that flows smoothly into the roof. The unique side profile is complemented by a metal window surround, which also serves as a door handle.

Minor changes at the rear and new alloy wheels

While the overall design remains unchanged, the production version has received slightly different alloy wheels. It is possible these are temporary or near-final versions. The rear of the car has undergone minor refinements: parking sensors and corner reflectors have been added. The rear bumper likely also has slight changes in the license plate area, but this is difficult to confirm 100%.

Interior and technical specifications

The photographers were unable to peek inside, but the interior is expected to be borrowed from the 8 Series, albeit with a higher level of trim. Special details include leather upholstery for the roof and luggage compartment.

During the concept’s presentation last year, BMW did not disclose exact technical specifications, only stating that the car is equipped with the most powerful V8 engine the company offers. The production Speedtop will likely get the same powertrain as the Skytop model:

This is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 616 hp (460 kW / 625 PS), paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system. This combination allows the roadster to accelerate to 100 km/h in approximately 3.3 seconds.

Thus, the BMW Speedtop will be not only a rare collector’s item but also an extremely powerful car, combining the exclusive shooting brake design with outstanding dynamic characteristics. Given the limited production run and high demand, this model will undoubtedly become one of the most sought-after in the Bavarian brand’s lineup.
