2021 Was the Most Successful Year for Bugatti in History

The manufacturer of the most expensive cars on the planet reported record sales in its 112-year existence. Despite the pandemic and economic setbacks worldwide, the wealthiest people on Earth bought everything available and even more (made unplanned pre-orders).

Simply put, if you ever dreamed of buying a new Bugatti Chiron, you’re too late. As early as last fall, the French brand sold out the remaining batch. What surprised even the manufacturer, 60% of hypercar buyers last year were clients who had never previously owned a car of this brand. So, they are newcomers.

“The year 2021 was exceptional for Bugatti, despite all the challenges the world faced,” said Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles and Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti Rimac. “I thank Stephan Winkelmann, who led our brand as President from January 2018 to November 2021, for laying such a strong foundation and ensuring the most successful sales year in our brand’s illustrious 112-year history.”

Besides parting with all the Chiron models, the Molsheim car company also delivered the last Bugatti Divo (priced from 5 million euros) to clients worldwide. What’s next? In 2022, the focus is planned to be on the future of the new joint company Bugatti Rimac with Rimac Automobili and Porsche, headed by CEO Mate Rimac, who took over in November.

Recall, 2021 was a record year for almost all supercar manufacturers. What does it mean? Nothing new. Job cuts, social benefits, closing of small businesses, etc., affected the ‘common’ people, whereas the wealthy apparently became wealthier. But to be fair, luxury brands noted an influx of new clients globally among IT specialists, bloggers, and those connected to cryptocurrency.

Did you know that 2021 was also significant for Ukraine? Just like worldwide, some cars priced over $200,000 set a new benchmark for sales, and most intriguingly, last year a rare Bugatti hypercar appeared in Ukraine.
