AEV Creates Its First Ford Cargo Truck, and It’s Significantly Larger Than One Can Imagine

American Company Presents Its First Ford-Based Off-Road Prepared Vehicle

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has presented its first project created on the basis of a Ford truck. This novelty debuted on the eve of the Detroit auto show.

The model, named FXL, is based on the full-size Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty series pickups. The vehicle has undergone serious modifications to improve its off-road qualities.

Key Features and Equipment

The ready-to-operate FXL variant is equipped with extended HighMark wheel arches and a powerful steel front bumper. This bumper is designed to accommodate a winch with a lifting capacity of up to 20 thousand pounds. Engineers also managed to integrate its structure with the radars of driver assistance systems, which is important for modern vehicles.

We wanted to install the largest tires with minimal body lift to improve off-road capabilities while maintaining ride quality, stability, and confident on-road behavior.

The equipment also includes a rear bumper with increased ground clearance, body graphics, AEV branded badges, splash guards, and additional lighting equipment.

Serious Technical Modifications

One of the most important modifications is the 4-inch DualSport suspension with Bilstein shock absorbers and special coil springs. This allows the use of 18-inch wheels with a beadlock capability and massive 40-inch BFGoodrich HD-Terrain tires.

Production and Availability

The FXL will be assembled at the AEV plant in Wixom, Michigan, and sold through authorized dealerships. The price has not been announced yet. The vehicle will be accompanied by a 3-year or 36-thousand-mile warranty.

For those who prefer independent modifications, the company plans to sell individual components. Some of them, including the same front bumper, will also fit heavier models such as the F-450 and F-550.

The emergence of such a project from an experienced player in the off-road tuning market underscores the constant growth in demand for seriously prepared, extreme-condition pickups. These are no longer just work vehicles, but full-fledged tools for adventure, combining power, endurance, and a high level of factory refinement. Such collaborations between major automakers and specialized ateliers open up new niches in the market, offering buyers unique products ready for challenges from day one.
