Hyundai unveiled the updated Grandeur 2027 in South Korea
Hyundai has released the first images of the updated Grandeur sedan, which received moderate exterior changes and a completely redesigned interior. This is a flagship model for the Korean market.
The Grandeur, which was sold as the Azera in the US and Canada before Hyundai exited this segment, entered its seventh generation in November 2022. It remains the best-selling sedan in Korea and the second most popular vehicle in the country, trailing only the Sorento SUV. Hyundai decided the car needed a significant update.
Exterior changes: “Shark nose” and new colors
Visually, the biggest change is the so-called “Shark nose,” which looks cleaner than before. The full-width LED strip has become thinner, the main headlights have shrunk significantly, and the radiator grille and air intakes are combined into a single unit with generous chrome trim.
The car’s profile remains largely unchanged, but Hyundai has added new alloy wheel options and a fresh shade of Artistic Burgundy with a gloss or matte finish. The rear also looks familiar, but upon closer inspection, updates are noticeable. The turn signals, previously located on the rear bumper, are now integrated into the LED strip. There is also thinner black plastic on the bumper and new chrome accents around the diffuser.
In terms of dimensions, the Grandeur now has a length of 5,050 mm, which is 15 mm more than its predecessor.
Interior update: 17-inch screen and premium materials
Inside, the central element is a 17-inch touchscreen, which replaces the previous 12.3-inch infotainment display and a separate 10.25-inch climate control panel. It runs on Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect software, built on Android. A thinner digital instrument cluster is positioned further back on the dashboard.
Although the center console features physical buttons for essential functions, Hyundai has introduced electric vents, with the volume and direction of airflow regulated through the touchscreen. This solution was chosen primarily for style, as the vents are now hidden from view on the redesigned dashboard.

The 2027 Grandeur also features a “Smart Vision Roof,” which can switch between opaque and transparent states. Finally, quilted upholstery, a “sofa pattern” on the door panels, wood inlays, metal accents, and ambient lighting create a premium and cozy atmosphere.
Powertrains and price
Hyundai did not go into details about the powertrains, but it is expected that the updated model will carry over the predecessor’s lineup. This includes a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter GDi, a 1.6-liter Turbo Hybrid, and the flagship 3.5-liter V6. The latter is offered in gasoline and LPG variants, and is optionally available with all-wheel drive.

South Korean buyers will be able to see the updated Grandeur at dealerships within the next few months. The current model starts at 37,980,000 won (about $25,800 USD), and the updated version is likely to be slightly more expensive.
The Grandeur update demonstrates how Hyundai continues to invest in traditional sedans despite the global trend towards SUVs. The focus on a high-tech interior with a large screen and premium materials suggests an attempt to elevate the model to a level close to Genesis, which may be a strategy to maintain its popularity in the domestic market. The lack of drastic changes to the engine lineup indicates that Hyundai is betting on proven powertrains, adapting the car to modern demands for comfort and style.
