Lada Vesta production will be transferred from Izhevsk to the main plant in Tolyatti. At the same time, about 90% of the staff in Izhevsk will be laid off – open letters to Putin with complaints about the management did not help.
Lada Vesta will be produced on a line that previously assembled the XRay crossover and Renault Logan. Its re-equipment will take more than six months and is scheduled to be completed in March.
The updated Lada Vesta NG will be produced. Let us remind you that currently there are only 800 examples, and it is already being sold at a price higher than Toyota Camry in car dealerships.
It is worth noting that spring 2023 is an optimistic scenario for resuming production, as it is still necessary to find replacements for imported components, which constitute 40% of the Vesta’s design. Chinese analogues are not always suitable: for instance, a batch of Lada Largus was equipped with a Chinese ABS, and during the break-in of the ready cars, it turned out that it does not work during sudden braking. Despite this, AvtoVAZ has not abandoned this ABS and wants to continue installing it on its models.
