The AvtoVAZ plant in Izhevsk will not only fail to resume the production of the Lada Vesta, but will also cut 90% of its staff by the end of August. This is evidenced by the orders of the enterprise’s director, copies of which were handed over to journalists by the Drom website.
By August 31, the workforce of one of AvtoVAZ’s key enterprises will be reduced from 2000 to 200 people, even though at the beginning of the year it consisted of 3100 people. Laid-off workers will be compensated in the amount of 5 to 7 months’ salary (depending on their tenure).

Of course, after this, the revival of Lada Vesta production cannot be discussed. It will be transferred to the main plant in Tolyatti, while the plant in Izhevsk will focus on producing components for AvtoVAZ.
Interestingly, it was the team at the Izhevsk plant that wrote an open letter to Putin, complaining about the management and asking for intervention. As we see, action was taken.
As for the Lada Vesta, even according to optimistic forecasts, they will start assembling it in Tolyatti in the spring of 2023. In the meantime, dealerships are selling off 800 updated Vestas produced at the beginning of the year, and prices for them have already exceeded $30,000.
