Brabus created the craziest G-Class convertible that can be purchased for a million

New convertibles from Brabus

The German tuning atelier Brabus has introduced two new convertible versions based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 – 800 and 800 XL. Both models received wide bodies, a folding soft top, and power of 789 horsepower. The price of the base version starts from 877 thousand dollars, while the cost of the 800 XL can exceed one million.

Folding roof and safety

Both convertibles are equipped with a high-tech folding roof that includes over 500 individual components. The two-section roof opens and closes in 20 seconds using a button. The cars also have heated rear glass.

The conversion was not easy, as the model has a reinforced windshield frame and a carbon fiber arc that guarantees the roof shape remains unchanged even at high speeds.

The convertible is also equipped with rear rollover protection and a soft top cover that protects it during prolonged folding.

Exterior and chassis

In addition to the roof, the 800 model received an individual rear door and a set of wide Widestar body components. It is equipped with 24-inch Monoblock ZM wheels with high-performance Hankook Ventus S1 Evo ZX tires. Sport springs lower the ground clearance by 0.8-1.6 inches.

Interior and comfort

The updates also touched the interior, where leather upholstery, carbon fiber gearshift paddles, an Airscarf system, as well as numerous carbon fiber elements and Brabus logos appeared.

Engine and performance

Both models are powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers, producing 789 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes 4 seconds, and the top speed is electronically limited to 149 mph.

XL off-road version

The 800 XL version is similar to the base one but is focused on overcoming difficult terrain. It is equipped with a portal axle suspension that provides 18.9 inches of ground clearance, and smaller 22-inch wheels with off-road tires. These changes affect performance: acceleration to 62 mph takes 4.6 seconds, and the top speed is 130 mph.

Limited series and cost

Production of both models is limited to 50 units each. The price of the 800 version starts from $877,350, while the shown 800 XL costs one million dollars, but the final cost will depend on additional equipment.

These convertibles demonstrate how tuning can transform a classic off-road vehicle into an exclusive product, combining high technology with unique design. The limited series makes them even more desirable for collectors and brand enthusiasts.
