Rare 1989 Honda Prelude Si for sale
Honda is working on reviving the Prelude model, but will the new version be able to replicate the success of its predecessors? The new model will feature a hybrid powertrain and simulated gear shifting, raising some doubts about its dynamic capabilities. However, classic models like this 1989 Prelude continue to attract enthusiasts.
This specimen in the rare Barbados Yellow color spent most of its life in Rhode Island. The total mileage is about 59,000 km, which is not very low for a car of this age. Despite this, bids at the auction have already exceeded $15,000, indicating high demand for well-preserved examples of this model.
Technical features
This is the Si version with a five-speed manual transmission and a 2.0-liter B20A5 engine that produced 135 hp in its time. Although this modification lacks an all-wheel-drive system, it remains an interesting option for classic car lovers. The car has been repainted in its original color and comes with 14-inch steel wheels.
The interior features black fabric seats with striped inserts, as well as air conditioning and an updated Pioneer audio system. According to experts, the Prelude was known for its good handling thanks to its double-wishbone suspension.
The auction is ongoing, and this example of Japanese automotive engineering could be a great acquisition for a collector. Although it falls short of modern hatchbacks in terms of dynamics, its historical value and condition make it an option worth considering.
