The price of the new Audi Q5 has increased by $7K, but there’s no need to blame tariffs

Audi has announced prices for the redesigned Q5 this spring, with the base version costing $52,200, which is $6,800 more.

The manufacturer stated that tariffs have no impact on consumer prices.

This crossover features a completely new design, a high-tech interior, and an available V6 with 362 hp.

Audi introduced the model last fall, and now the company has announced prices and specifications for the U.S. The compact luxury crossover will arrive at dealerships in May and will cost $52,200, plus $1,295 for delivery.

It is $6,800 more expensive than the previous generation, which started at $45,400. Due to the 15% price increase, the Q5 is now more expensive than the , as well as the Mercedes GLC.

So, What Caused the Price Increase?

Audi did not provide an explanation for the sharp price hike, so we reached out and asked if tariffs were to blame. A company representative assured us that no, stating, “We have not passed on additional tariff costs to our customers and will maintain prices, at least until the end of May.”

Beyond tariffs, the 2025 Audi Q5 Premium impresses with a stylish new design featuring a wide radiator grille flanked by sleek headlights. Buyers will also get a sloping roof and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The interior has a minimalist design, with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment system as the centerpiece. These are complemented by front seats with eight-way power adjustment. Other features include illuminated sill plates, a 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, and a larger cargo area that can hold up to 56.9 cubic feet (1,611 liters) of cargo.

Audi has not released the full list of equipment, but the base model comes with a range of standard driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, lane change warning, and traffic sign recognition.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the standard quattro all-wheel-drive system. This allows the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds before reaching a top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h).

The Q5 Premium Plus starts at $56,700 and features a slightly redesigned exterior with larger 19-inch wheels. Buyers also get a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. These are complemented by adaptive cruise assist and a bird’s-eye-view camera system.

Next up is the , but this model has a sportier style. It costs more—starting at $55,900, which is $3,700 more than its predecessor. Customers can also get Premium Plus and Prestige versions for $58,800 and $62,700, respectively.

SQ5: Power and Performance at a Price

starts at $64,800, which is $6,400 more. It’s not cheap, but the model stands out with larger air intakes, a more aggressive diffuser, and matte chrome accents. There are also four exhaust pipes and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Updates include leather and Dinamica upholstery with a diamond pattern. These are complemented by stainless steel pedals, carbon fiber inserts, and a sport steering wheel.

Standard features include a sport-tuned adaptive air suspension and a 3.0-liter TFSI V6 producing 362 hp (270 kW / 367 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and the standard quattro all-wheel-drive system, allowing the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Customers looking for maximum sportiness can opt for the 2025 SQ5 Sportback, which starts at $67,600. This is $5,800 more than the previous model.
